1st: Root chakra (Muladhara-meaning base/root) /Adrenal glands: Your root chakra is your first chakra and is located at the base of the spine. It is the root of your being and establishes the deepest connections with your physical body, your environment and with the Earth. It is the foundation of who you are, determined by your first 8 years of life when your only goal was to survive.
The element of Muladhara is Earth and so going barefoot and connecting into the earth is a good way to support this chakra.
This is the most instinctual of all chakras - it is your survival center. Your fight and flight response is initiated from this chakra. This is your primal, animal nature.
The root chakra core beliefs center around
*Money/Job: as in do I have enough money to survive?
*Core family relationships: Am I safe in my closest, core relationships or do I fear rejection and abandonment?
*Food, which is necessary for survival-are you always worried about where the next meal is coming from or do you reject food/life? What is your relationship to food?
*Home/shelter: Do you have a home that feels like a sanctuary and place of renewal or are you living in chaos or constantly moving?
*Inner child: what is your relationship with your inner child? Are you still carrying around wounds from childhood or acting out from the triggers of your inner child?
The glands associated with the 1st chakra are the adrenal glands. Adrenal glands, are located just above your kidneys. They are physically responsible for your fight, flight or freeze response to stress and they release cortisol and adrenaline. They also produce estrogen, progesterone and testosterone in small amounts.
Oils to support your first chakra-
*Basil: oil of renewal -renewing mind, body and spirit is incredibly helpful to our foundation. Basil is also incredibly renewing and replenishing to the adrenals.
*Lemongrass: oil of cleansing -you know how popular Marie Kondo is right now? It is because tidying our space and cleansing out the old is so supportive to our first chakra.
Lemongrass is also powerfully supportive to the adrenals.
*Grapefruit: the oil of honoring the body, this is the base for the first 3 chakra blends, which are also the chakras most influenced by being in physical bodies. Grapefruit is great for metabolism and is therefore incredible support to adrenals, ovaries, pancreas and thryoid.
*Ylang Ylang: the oil of the inner child-because our foundation is established as children, this is incredibly powerful for moving through our inner child issues. This is a powerful oil for both the adrenals and the ovaries.
